A large decayed tree fell in a 43 mile per hour brisk breeze. It blocked North Macomb Street and a main access to the hospital. This is an example of a life critical danger posed by citizens failing to report dangerous trees to the City of Monroe, the Floral City. This tree is considered a Silver Maple. See More of these Photos by Ernie Whiteside Silver maple is a medium sized tree commonly found along the banks of water bodies and floodplains. It is often planted as an ornamental due its fast growth, fine foliage, and fall color. Susceptibility to ice and snow breakage and invasive rooting tendencies make its use in urban situations questionable. Silver maple trees are crowded out by oaks and other more desirable trees in a mature forest in this area.
